Blimey, Australia to phase out incandescent light bulbs by 2012. There are not many occasions that I find myself applauding John Howard but his minor conversion to partially accepting that
something needs to be done is a welcome change of heart. It seems like such a simple move I can see no real reason for other countries not to follow suit. Energy saving bulbs have fallen in price and once incandescents are removed from the market then economies of scale with no doubt bring the prices down further. Even if you are not convinced of the causes of global warming it just makes sound economic sense to not waste energy in the home.
