Marmite or Bovril…Sausages?

Bovril Marmite

Sausages have taken a leap into the savoury as we learn that Marmite and Bovril infused sausages are to go on sale and battle it out for popularity with Marmite being the tipped favourite to shift more poundage than any Bovril version. Specialist sausage maker Broad-Oak is to introduce the two new flavours with the Marmite version taking 5.5% of the sausage ingredient and the Bovril occupying only 3% by volume.

Bovril has been with us since 1886 whilst the more vegetarian friendly Marmite being introduced in 1902. I doubt I’ll be sampling these sausage delights being a vegetarian unless I infuse some veggie sausages with promite or similar though I have sampled a Quorn vegetarian sausage infused with Branston pickle which was quite tasty in a vegetarian way.
