A Doctor Who Disappoints

TardisI was a late convert to watching Dr Who. I didn’t really watch it much in the classic wobbly set years and was drawn into watching it seriously for the first time when the series finally returned in 2005 with the single series production of Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor. I abandoned the last series with David Tennant’s Doctor but gave the current series a whirl and was pleased that a darker and better written tone pervaded the series. The past few weeks had been very good indeed (though in retrospect the forthcoming trailers were more exciting than the actual episodes) but yesterday’s series finale was a decided let down and anti climax. The much promised shock ending with rumours of a possible regeneration of David Tennant into Robert Carlyle, amongst others unknown did not materialise (despite lots of verbal and musical hints at ‘change’ throughout the episode). I enjoyed John Simm’s impossibly brief resurrection of The Master but I have a feeling that my flirtation with being a fan of Dr Who has come to an end.

  • Don’t give up the ship yet; keep an eye out for recommendations for next season; I believe Cathrine Tate will put Tennant in his place.

I know how you feel about the ending tough, it was a let down.

  • Hello Prchung- No doubt I’ll give the next series a peak though the Xmas special details already makes it sound like being not my cup of tea and rumours of ‘guest stars’ featuring in the next series sounds worrying.
