Nervous Norvus-Ape Call
Nervous Norvus aka Jimmy Drake has become a bit of legend over the past few decades. A decidedly different singer from the American mid 50′s. His brief output has come to be viewed as kitsch, comical, ghoulish ,strange and unique. This track was part of publicity for ‘the worst records ever made’ (which is a little harsh) which was a feature that British DJ Kenny Everett launched on his radio shows in the UK and would later see a compilation record based around the most popular songs featured. You will even find two of his best known tracks on iTunes, The Fang and the legendary Transfusion (iTunes required to preview)which features the lyric:
Toolin’ down the highway doin’ 79
I’m a twin-pipe papa and I’m feelin’ fine
Hey man, dig that — was that a red stop sign? [*squeeeeeeeal ... KER-RASH!*]
Transfusion, transfusion
I’m just a solid mess of contusions
Never never never gonna speed again.
Slip the blood to me, Bud.

“which was a feature that British DJ Kenny Everett launched on his radio shows in the UK”
Actually, it was not British DJ Kenny Everett in 1977, but another Everett: KPRC-FM DJ “Dr. Demento” (ne Barrett Eugene Everett) who really gave this CPR.
It’s certainly up there in the list of “worst records of all time.”
