£70 Saverstore Laptop-Too Good To Be True?

Ho hum-Saverstore misprint or shifting faulty stock?
Saverstore are the resurrection of the collapsed Savatore UK computer store that went under back in February. They certainly still have a lot of the old Savastore stock that they seem to be selling off including items as dated as cassette walkmans. As someone who bought from the old Savastore, my old account details have been transferred to the new incarnation complete with the same login details (is that legal?) and I still get sent product details in my email.
This item seems to be creating some interest. Surely an error or a method of generating some website hits? Either way considering the previous history it really is a case of ‘do you feel lucky, punk’ in handing over your credit card details and cross your fingers that and more likely figure isn’t debited? If you’re taking a chance then using Google checkout might offer the greatest protection but at this specification I wouldn’t hold your breath on a delivery at the price stated.

The price was so good that they sold them all. Well, that’s one interpretation of the notice replacing the item’s pricing information that reads ” Sorry, this product is currently unavailable.”
It’s more likely that they have pulled the item until they get a correct price to display.
Lol – Took them long enough. It was still on offer around an hour ago. Not the sort of thing I’d take a chance on considering their history but many do.

But they are offering you credit you are still going on!! btw is is Legal the awnser to your question….
I for one have received their email & purchase the 32″ TV which came after 2 days & working fine. I understad after talking to the manufacture that the item is current model & has 2 years warranty… so give the positive feed because afer all the comsumer wins….
Hello Walter- what about all those that lost money paid for items when Savastore went under?-should the same people still be allowed to trade using personal details from a bankrupt company when many people lost out . Many consumers did not win when Savastore went under.
Well it looks as if the same bunch are doing the same things as before. I was lucky they closed my account(thankyou Mr Hill) when I complained about monitors they had advertised that seemed to not exist. I complained to trading standards and they looked into it but I heard nothing. I shop elswhere and often get a better deal, they lost a lot of custom from me which I am now glad about. They alsop tried to fob me off with an inferior Mobo in one of their kits and it took many weeks to get the right one. Shop with caution!!!!!!!
Hi,
Shame I did not read this article and the replies last week.
Thought I found a bargain through BargainSpy?
Paid for a CarTrek 400 GPS Sat-Nav (£99) last Sunday via Google express to SaverStore. When purchased the GPS was “In Stock” and ready for immediate shipment from warehouse.
Four day’s later no contact or information?
Log-in to account status and found GPS classed as “awaiting Stock”?
Anyone can go the site and purchase a CarTrek 400 as it appears as “in stock” and “immediate delivery”
I have ran and told to check on line for delivery date – no such thing?
E-mailed with no reply -
If I cancel my order on-line do I get a credit or just get ripped off?
Can anyone enlighten
Wish I’d researched the company not the product!
Mike
Hello Mike Morgan. Your biggest insurance is via your credit or debit card company. A lack of email reply is not always a cause for alarm (few online retailers are up to speed with customer service via email as they prefer to drive you to expensive 0870 style ‘help’ phone lines).
If you cancel your order you should usually (on paper) get a refund. You need to see an email receipt of cancellation for peace of mind or take a screenshot or print to pdf at the time of cancellation as an insurance.
Delay could just mean that they are struggling with stock (no doubt you account says ‘awaiting stock’). It’s up to you if you wish to hold out for the price and cross your fingers that all is well or bail out and purchase elsewhere. Keep us informed as to how it’s going/went.
Many thanks Emalyse your advise is excellent and well defined.
I have had a reply from Saverstore after contacting them through Google Express. They stated they are out of stock and the unit will be sent directly.
It should be in their warehouse by next Wednesday 25th July and dispatched to me next working day. At least they are communicating now and as you stated maybe struggling with stock.
I will give them until next Thursday and then cancerl and purchase a Sat-Nav elsewhere following your cancelation instruction.
At least I wil have given them a chance!
Many thanks for the advice it was greatfully welcomed.
Thanks Again
Mike
Hello Mike- I’m happy that you might have found the advise useful. I’m always interested to hear people’s experiences so keep us informed whatever decision you come to as it all helps us make informed buying decisions.
Please be assured that the error on the laptop price was a genuin mistake which was not picked up straight away. This obviously was NOT a stunt to get traffic to the site, it lost us customers not gained them! Unfortunately a decimal point was in the wrong place, the price should have been £593.89 + VAT not £59.38 + VAT and we apologise to anyone who thought they were getting the deal of the century. All orders were cancelled and anyone that was charged was refunded as soon as we spotted the problem, we also advised everyone that this was a pricing error, we wasn’t trying to hide or cover anything up.
We find a lot of people emailing old Watford Electronics email addresses which we can not get full access to, please use our website for all feedback, enquiries, returns and order tracking. Our usual response time is within 48 hours.
Regards
