Brian Eno is 60. I read a short piece about the man in yesterday’s Indy so thought a revisit of a track from 1992’s Nerve Net might be overdue for a dusting down and airing. I bought the album at the time being as it was the first real ‘vocal’ album from him for quite some time (’77’s Before & After Science?) and loved the clever use of pseudo tabloid headline-speak used here though the delivery caused me to often refer to this track as the ‘John Major rap” sometimes.
Largely I’ve enjoyed his ambient output and his collaborations with other musicians, usually as a facilitator to creative ideas with and without his use of oblique strategy cards.
