BT Internet Radio Lures The DAB Disillusioned
2008 August 13
As DAB radio sales falter & the ability to increase the range of stations is hampered by its dated technology it becomes more and more attractive to pick up an Internet radio. I’m always interested to see when an Internet radio falls to the price of a mid range DAB radio. BT are selling their own branded model for just below £50 now available from Dabs.com and the BT shop (which seems to be handled by Dabs anyway). Obviously it can connect via Wifi and is WEP & WPA connection capable and can also access music files on your Windows or Mac computer.

Oooh, yes. I’ve got a DAB in the bedroom, but since having got a Roku Internet Radio for the kitchen, it feels like a bit of a weak device. The Roku also does old-fashioned FM and AM as well…
The only downside is some web radios struggle with the BBC’s Real streams; Roku has a workaround but it still seems to fall over quite often. Hence the wonders of being able to switch to Radio 4’s FM signal.
