Wonder Wash Alternative

Wonder WashA while ago we took delivery of one of those wonder wash manual washing devices which completes our clothes washing by hand set-up. I’ve been washing by hand with some launderette visits for a while now and with literally no enthusiasm or space to put a replacement washing machine it’s become an accepted way of life.

The wonder wash is aimed at those who need an alternative to a washing machine or need a portable camping solution that requires no electricity for washing. You fill it with washing liquid (or washing balls if you believe that hype), water and clothes, screw down the top which pressurises the contents (and intensifies the washing action) and attach a handle to turn the drum over for up to two minutes.Release the pressure, attach the drain arm (I just drain into the sink from the lid, it’s quicker). Repeat with more water to rinse a few times. The spin dryer takes care of the wringing to an extent that only minor airing is then required after this process.

It sounds basic but it seems to work well for us and is saving on the electricity and water bills so I can thoroughly recommend this if you’re looking for an alternative way to wash your clothes.

Vinyl Goes To the Wall

I’ve decided to give away what’s left of my remaining vinyl record collection. The most treasured ones I’ll keep a while longer though I’ve either digitised them or re purchased in digital form so for me it’s about the music (maaaaan). I sold the vast majority some years ago when I probably got the best prices I could for them on eBay before downloading from the Internet took hold and the price commanded for 2nd user vinyl tumbled.

I keep wanting to do something useful with those records and have seen this lovely but again pricey solution for turning treasured LP covers into wall art that can be changed and rotated as the mood dictates.

Eco Kettle That Makes A 3 Second Cuppa

Yet another way to make a cup of tea. This slightly pricey but innovative kettle and water filter solution bringsquickcup the water to near boiling point in around 3 seconds and claims to be eco friendly into the bargain.

The makers, Tefal claim the new kettle will save an average household around £30 a year in energy costs and is a 65% energy consumption reduction compared to a normal style kettle. The dispenser can equally produce cold filtered water too.

A flash video of how it works can be seen here.

Update: Aside from Currys, both Argos and Morrisons now sell this though the price point remains the same (UK).
