Stuff I Do

VIDEO FILMING
I filmed weddings using video for around 11 years. I guess I started in the formative years of wedding video filming of the late 80’s. By that time VHS video ownership had become pretty standard and there was a tangible demand for having weddings recorded for posterity. I began filming using video 8
which was a great start that helped make rather good VHS copies.
The other ace up my sleeve was the Amiga computer. It was way ahead of its time in being able to work with video and helped me to edit the video in a slightly less than average way. It was still time consuming and a real labour of love.
As more corporate work came my way I started to use S-VHS and U-Matic formats to improve the quality and ended up with a really early Non linear editor for the Amiga that
let me start hard disc based video editing some even on site (though really the equipment did not like to be moved).
I had originally started to use computers for Music and Audio though my hearing had started to diminish due to menieres and i kind of went off at a tangent into video from which I then careered tangentially into the more technical side as I found that my brain seemed to be wired up the right way round for problem solving as more and more contacts began asking for my advice and technical help. My time in video came to and end when I moved to Australia for a while and returned to work for a while in IT.
I have recently returned to video now that DVD is the final product which opens many creative possibilities and the ability to maintain great picture quality. If you’re getting married, having a commitment ceremony or civil partnership in the UK then I’m returning to this kind of filming and am offering a few dates at cost (just because I fell like it).So get in contact if you think I could help out.
RECYCLE AND REUSE
I worked voluntarily in a computer recycling company doing admin, taking on their network support and helping out with technical help. Sadly the company folded but I was in a position to accept some used computer equipment myself and apply it directly to solutions required in my own IT support offerings together with helping many charities and not-for-profits.
VIRTUAL ASSISTANT AND BLOGGER
The need for me to visit clients has decreased, especially with ongoing network support. It also suited me to take on various I.T. training, admin and, freelance writing and I.T. support tasks from home. Increasingly I contribute to other blogs as a guest writer and am happy to consider an admin and blog maintenance roll.
