Home secretary Theresa May has suggested that the coalition may change questions in the current British citizens immigration test. Anybody applying for a British passport, some sources have suggested, should be able to recite the first verse of God save the Queen.
Luckily most of us know that one:

The Fascist Regime,

A Potential H-Bomb.
Or didn’t she mean that God save the Queen?

With The Sex Pistols in town (Playing Brixton, London)and John Lydon and friends growing old wonderfully disgracefully and making a lot of old punks very happy , it’s been fun to see some of the recent American TV show outings especially this one on ex-pat Scot Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show . Lydon amuses me greatly and I’ve always found something of the devilish Albert Steptoe about some of his face gurning. Warning: footage contains gratuitous naked man boobs.

Both the Sex Pistols and The Police have been reported to be considering recording new material though John Lydon has added the proviso that this would happen for The Pistols only if it felt right. The Police never actually broke up and just drifted apart with no formal dissolution though with a lot of personal friction between the individual members. It raises the question of whether these bands should only tour on past glories or whether an attempt to create new material is always a dubious idea.
Personally I don’t have too much of a problem with them recording new material if the vibe feels right and if what’s produced seems worthy of a public release. It was always rumoured that John Lennon and Paul McCartney got back together in the 70′s very briefly but that the alleged recording sessions produced nothing of merit and so the tapes were trashed in order to cover up the fact that this was ever attempted. If true then that is applying the right criteria. If it’s substandard then no release please. No matter what your legacy is.
