Found a weekly wage slip for 1984. Mostly overtime with some bonus back pay. Barely over two pounds an hour which yielded £83.15 per week for 39 hours. A bonus of just over £35 probably means that target culture existed even then or more likely some jobs were still given X number of hours via a time and motion study and completed in under the stated time (trade unions were not yet fully crushed).
Overtime is included with four and a half hours worked at time and a half rates and a further three and a half hours paid at double time.
So at total of 47 hours were worked to gain a gross pay of £267.37 although just under £72 of that is a bonus payment with an arrears payment included,
